Partnership Work

The Irish Arts Foundation liases with other Irish welfare and community groups in addition to other multi-cultural music and art schemes in city within the city, various statutory agencies, voluntary sector groups and umbrella organisations specifically dealing with community cohesion and regeneration, To date, the IAF has worked with Voluntary Action Leeds, Leeds Voice, Leeds Irish Health and Homes, Leeds St. Patricks Day Parade, Leeds Irish Festival, Leeds Irish Historical & Cultural Society, Leeds City Museums, Leeds Arts Partnership. It is intended to further strengthen these links that are already established.

IAF has further strengthened the network links established with our relevant organisations outside the Leeds area such as Folkworks in the North East, Yorkshire Dales Workshops, Yorkshire Folk Arts, Saltaire Live, Return to Camden Town, Liverpool Irish Festival, Gael Music - Reading, Tyneside Irish Festival, Irish Diaspoara Foundation, Manchester, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann (local and national), Federation of Irish Societies, to exchange information, develop teaching methods, report on

funding, technology and mutual support.

IAF is actively involved with other educational, minority ethnic, community arts and music projects in the city such as Education Leeds (Artforms, Travellers Education Service, Leeds Music Support Services) University of Leeds Music Department, South Asian Arts, Yorkshire Late String Starters, Swarthmore Education Centre, and Musical Arc.

The IAF is also delighted to work in partnership with the newly established Seven Arts Centre in Chapel Allerton.

One of the most interesting and succesfull partnerships has been the ’Milun’ project with South Asian Arts, a performance group featuring two Irish and two Indian Musicians. They have recently completed a very succesful UK tour where they played to considerable numbers in The South Bank in London, Birmingham Concert Hall, Seven Arts in Leeds, The Bradford Mela and the Sage in Gateshead.
